Contact Mic River (Free Library)

This is a free library recorded by submerging contact microphones in a rushing river to produce immersive, hydrophone style sounds.

This library is free to use, including for commercial use. Many thanks to Kate Finan of Boom Box Post for sharing their techniques for using contact microphones as cheap hydrophone alternatives. You can read more about it in this article – and I highly encourage you to try this method for yourself too.

Kyle Evans

My name is Kyle Evans and perhaps my favourite sound in the world is that of a medium sized dog racing across muddied grass after heavy rains. I am a freelance sound editor, sound recordist and boom swinger (among other things) based in Melbourne, Australia. My work encompasses short and feature films (production and post production), radio plays, live events and other audio and visual mediums.
