SOUND RECORDIST EXAMPLES
Vanity Fair interview with Eric Bana
Here I used a Sennheiser MKH50, which is my primary boom mic for recording indoor dialogue. Here it really compliments the richness of Bana’s voice. Plus I added a bit of carpeting to cut down on reflections from the studio walls.
The Avalanches breakdown sampling
This was a multi-cam shoot with a very wide master shot, making it impossible to get the boom in. A pair of hidden COS11D lav microphones ended up sounding very nice here.
Divya’s Story (Holmesglen Institute)
This video is useful since it shows off the many interviews we did – and they all ended up sounding lovely and working well together as one cohesive piece. It’s super important to me that every scene has a clean, intimate sound that lets the editor cut different interviews together without there being any distracting changes between locations.
